Chef Yoshifumi Shibata

Chef Yoshifumi Shibata began his career training in the basics of French and California cusines at Kamogawa and Sanjyo in Kyoto.  He then worked his way to the Senior Line Cook position at the Roppongi location of Spago, owned by Wolfgang Puck.  In 2007, Chef Shibata moved to Hawaii and began working for Taormina Sicilian Cuisine as Chef Aki Yamamoto's Sous Chef.  He helped to develop the Taormina menu and played an integral role in ensuring a successful opening of the restaurant by overseeing the training of all kitchen staff.
 
In February 2009, Chef Shibata was appointed Executive Chef of Taormina where he continues to create authentic Sicilian dishes and continue Chef Aki's tradition of excellence.
